Community Service
IMA gives back to our NYC community in a variety of ways. We provide in school and after-school music instruction classes, countless donations of free music lessons at public school auctions every year, free use of our instruments in public school programs, as well as partial or full scholarships for deserving families in need who are currently enrolled in our private music lesson program.
We also provide various additional participatory enrichment activities for IMA families and children in our public school programs. Past group field trips, open to all our students, included attending concerts at Carnegie Hall, and viewing the instrument collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These trips of inspiration and perspective, while educational, also provided a fun social outlet and opportunity for IMA students from different schools to connect with each other.
We are now piloting a new outreach program that offers free instrument petting zoos where children can try out different instruments with our faculty in public libraries across the city. If you would like us to come visit your local library or local community space, please get in touch with us.
To donate, please check out our donation page and give what you can. Your support makes a big difference in how much we can offer and give back to NYC families, too.
