BRINGING CHILDREN AND MUSICIANS TOGETHER

Intersection Music and Arts gives back to our NYC community in a variety of ways. We provide in-school and after-school music instruction classes, countless donations of free music lessons at public school auctions every year, free use of our instruments in our public school programs, as well as partial or full scholarships for deserving families in need who are currently enrolled in our private music lesson program.
CULTURAL FIELD TRIPS & CONCERTS
We also provide participatory enrichment activities for IMA families and children in our public school programs. Past group field trips, open to all our students, included attending concerts at Carnegie Hall, and viewing the instrument collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. These trips of inspiration and perspective, while educational, also provide a fun social outlet for IMA students from different schools to connect with each other.

Come visit our Instrument Petting Zoo at the 53rd Street Library! Listen to the children’s librarian read a music-themed story, watch a mini performance by some of our students, and then try out the violin, guitar and piano for the first time with other interested families guided by our expert IMA instructors. Sign up is recommended closer to the date.* Free!
Wednesday, July 1st, 11 am and 1 pm:
We will be doing a Storytime for families in the LeFrack Lobby of David Geffen Hall, Lincoln Center, as part of the NYPL's Summer for the City series! This year's theme celebrates America's 250th Birthday, and we will do so with a live performance of Americana folk music (fiddle, banjo, piccolo, jaw harp, etc.) Children will first ‘Meet the Instruments’ and then join in the fun with the rhythm instruments provided. Showtimes are at 11 am and 1 pm. * Free!
* We will be posting links to both events when they go live on the NYPL and Lincoln Center website, so check back soon.
Our new outreach program offers free instrument petting zoos where children can try out different instruments with our faculty in public libraries across the city. If you would like us to come visit your local library or local community space, email us at intersectionartsnyc@gmail.com or call us at 646-974-4055.
