Minda Cowen is the Director of Intersection Music and Arts. She holds a B.A. degree from Sarah Lawrence College, a Masters degree in Violin Performance from NYU’s Steinhardt School under the tutelage of violinist Ann Setzer, and an M.S. from NYU Tisch School of the Arts Interactive Telecommunications Program.

In 2014 she co-founded Intersection Music and Arts as a non-profit provider of after-school music education. She was named director in 2017. A strong believer in continued learning, Minda had post-graduate violin studies with Dr. Eugenia Choi (NYC), Kurt Sassmannshaus (Salzburg), and Mimi Zweig (Intensive Pedagogy Course at the Jacob School of Music at Indiana University)

A native New Yorker, she herself started as a young Suzuki violin student with Nicole diCecco. To pursue her love for teaching children, Minda completed her Suzuki Violin Teacher Training with the School for Strings founder Louise Behrends and is a current member of the Suzuki Association of America.

Minda is also an active performer and has played concerts at the Marais Music Festival in Paris, Mozarteum Summer Festival in Salzburg, Sulzbach-Rosenberg International Music Festival in Germany, and frequently plays with local NYC orchestras, chamber ensembles, and the contra dance band Cake Jam! She also produced and performed in a benefit concert for Doctors Without Borders at WMP Hall in NYC.
